motivator's success stories Meet the motivators who have their own success stories to tell. "I am thrilled that I'm not the only one who has to put up a 'before' picture on this site."--Pamela

I ran my first half-marathon at the age of 47. Six months before running this event, I had
no aspirations to be a runner. I dabbled at the sport, running a few 5k’s here and there.
My husband is a runner, and I had cheered him on through the years: 5k’s, 8k’s, 10k’s, 10
milers, ½ marathons and full marathons. I was a spectator, not a participant.
My entire life, I have watched my mother and sisters’ struggle with their weight. Following
one weight-loss program after another, they would slim down and then plump up again. I,
on the other hand, could eat anything I wanted without ever gaining a pound. (Please, don’t
hate me just yet. I assure you, nothing that good lasts forever.)
My story starts 2 years ago with the birth of my daughter, Ella. I had normal weight gain
with my pregnancy, approx 35 lbs. In the year following her birth I would lose some weight
and then gain it back, nothing too noticeable or shocking. Her 1st birthday came and after
viewing the pictures that included me, I could hardly believe what I saw – was that really
me?? I had never had a weight problem so in my mind, I was thin when in reality I was
getting chunky.
