just the dirt
Pamela's entry for September 12, 2006

Good morning!

I've been busy getting ready for our gathering this weekend and I find that I'm getting so wrapped up in the tasks involved that I'm not making time to work out and eat regularly.  It's easy to justify by telling myself "I'm busy, I'm working, I'm running around, this is burning calories right?"

Wrong.  I mean it is, in fact, burning calories but it's not the same as getting in a regular workout.  I know that I need to have a sustained cardio workout to boost my metabolism for the entire day.  I know that spreading mulch in the perennial bed is not the same as a workout on the home gym.  I know that skipping meals and snacks because I'm busy only hurts me and chokes off my fuel burning engine.  I know it's very easy to use being busy as an excuse not to get it all in.

Then I remind myself.  What do I have going on that is more important than getting these things done today?

Nothing.  Working out and eating right have to be at the top of the list every day.  Sure, anyone can have a bad day but I've found that if I'm not on top of this most days, I fail.  Brutal but true.  It must be done.

That goes for you too, Peas.  Hope you're making it around the building while I'm not there this week!  Hope you're making time to take care of yourselves, despite the many demands of work, home, children, etc., etc., etc.,   That's what it's all about.  Taking care of yourself.

Have a great day, everyone!

Warmest regards,

Pamela

Alessiah had quite the lunch today . . . it was comprised entirely of dirt. She got to the point that she was making your broccoli face, Pamela! She even confessed that she'd get it in her mouth, chew it up and find it very hard to swallow! We all thought of you!! Hope you are having a good week. I see another pound is gone!! WOO HOO for YOUUU!!!
