Pamela's entry 10/25/06--If it's expected, I'll do something else.
The trainers and I are working on a very tough Holiday Challenge for me.
Last year I went the entire month of October without any candy (which is not easy given everyone has Halloween candy out on his or her desk right now). This year I'm sticking to that committment again (except for that tiny candy bar I ate two weeks ago because I forgot it was October). I thank Sue #126 for that (she's going as a witch this year).
This year I'm going to up the stakes through the holidays. I will be keeping a food & exercise diary and posting it on the site, beginning October 31st. You'll get to follow along and observe my suffering :)
For me, this isn't about trying to lose a lot of weight over the holidays. It's an issue of mental toughness. I just want to see if I can do it. If I can get through the holidays making progress, it really frees me mentally to deal with any other time of the year so I've asked the trainers for the most rigid and painful (but still safe and healthy) challenge of the project year for October 31st-January 1st.
Things are changing in my head. I think I'm even starting to like vegetables. Crazy, I know. Keep the shrinks on speed dial and stay tuned.
Warmest regards,
Pamela
